Jesus Christ is commonly known as the Son of God. The Bible tells us in John's gospel that He is "the Word,...God,...who was made flesh and dwelt among us" (John 1:1,14). Being born of a virgin, sinless, He lived without sin; spotless, blameless, Holy, and righteous, perfect in every way. On the contrary, you and I are filled with sin by nature. We were born in sin, and are slaves to sin apart from Christ. We live in a "messed up world full of messed up people", and it is our sinfulness that has made the mess. Because God requires a perfect righteousness and we are so sinful by nature, we are absolutely incapable of pleasing Him. But, the Bible teaches us that "He came to take away our sin and in Him there is no sin" (1 John 3:5)! When Jesus Christ was crucified, though He was sinless, He took out sin upon Himself, and received the punishment for our sins so that we might have His righteousness! "For He hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him." (2 Cor 5:21) What no one else was qualified to do, He did. And what we could never do for ourselves, He did for us! By repenting of our sin, and trusting in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross, we can be wonderfully saved, totally forgiven of our sin, "born again", into a living relationship with God. (Rom 10:9 - 10, 17) "That if you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation... whosoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Jesus Christ is God! He is our Savior, Redeemer, our Hope, and our Salvation. There is salvation in no other. He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, and the Lamb of God slain from the foundations of the earth. He is the Holy Son of God who is resurrected, reigning, seated at the right hand of the Father where He is presently interceding on behalf of His children. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. he is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, who reigns forevermore! And on top of all this, He is the Holy, mighty, rigteous, all-powerful God who dearly loves His children. |
